MeeTravel is a mobile-only platform that facilitates connection and communication between friends and travel companions for trips and outings
MeeTravel was born from Italy's largest independent traveller community that decided to equip itself with a support tool for organising trips. MeeTravel was launched in 2021 and boasts thousands of members who organise hundreds of trips of all kinds to numerous Italian destinations. At ELbuild, we handled the entire design and implementation of the product, also contributing to analysing and refining the initial idea.
MeeTravel asked us for a mobile first platform, handing over a UI developed by a third party. The founders also explicitly indicated React Native as the technology to use for the development of the app. ELbuild was in charge of defining the functional requirements and drafting a formal analysis document that, once approved, guided the development of the mobile client. The server component and the back office were created in Java EE and Angular, respectively.
We offered support in selecting the technologies needed to satisfy some of the functional requirements and took care of their integration. In particular, Firebase is used to send push notifications and monitor user behaviour within the app, Mandrill/Mailchimp is used to send transactional emails, and OVH is the infrastructure provider.
The MeeTravel platform also integrates a machine learning engine that evaluates the compatibility between travellers, as well as between travellers and trips, using a model trained by a consultant. ELbuild defined the strategy to integrate this element in order to respect the UX and performance requirements.
